- Damn Yankees singer Jack Blades says his band was once paid a million dollars – to NOT make an album.
- He says the band – which also included Ted Nugent and Styx’s Tommy Shaw – was getting ready to make its third record when “there was a scene change. That was right around the time that Nirvana changed everything.”
- With the label focused on grunge rock, Blades says Warner paid “a million dollars not to do another Damn Yankees record.” His response: “Really? OK, we’ll just take the check. Why not?”
