Damn Yankees Singer Says Label Payed Them $1 Million To NOT Make An Album

Damn Yankees singer Jack Blades says his band was once paid a million dollars – to NOT make an album.
He says the band – which also included Ted Nugent and Styx’s Tommy Shaw – was getting ready to make its third record when “there was a scene change. That was right around the time that Nirvana changed everything.”
With the label focused on grunge rock, Blades says Warner paid “a million dollars not to do another Damn Yankees record.” His response: “Really? OK, we’ll just take the check. Why not?”
