Drummer Joey Kramer Sues Aerosmith After They Made Him Audition To Rejoin The Band
Long time Aerosmith drummer, Joey Kramer, had to take a brief disability leave from the band due to “minor injuries” he sustained in the spring of 2019. Once he recovered, the band asked he to audition to a click track to see if he was “able to play at an appropriate level.”
With Aerosmith slated to perform at this year’s Grammys on Sunday, Kramer is suing the band for preventing him from playing at the awards show when Aerosmith will receive a 2020 MusiCares Person of the Year honor.
Kramer claims in the lawsuit that stress caused by the audition resulted in “significant repercussions”. He ended up in the hospital and caused him to miss Aerosmith’s Las Vegas residency shows. As a result, he was forced to pay his replacement $20,000 per week to cover for him.
The band rejected Kramer after he auditioned again earlier this month citing his lack of “energy”.
